CHECK YOUR MATE

Early symptoms of CTE usually appear in a patient's late 20s or 30s, and affect a patient's mood and behavior. Some common changes seen include impulse control problems, loss of concentration, memory loss, aggression, anxiety, depression, and paranoia. These symptoms often begin years or even decades after the last brain trauma or end of active athletic involvement.

FAQ

What is up with our logo?

Our logo represents a sudden movement of the brain which can lead to a concussion or other traumatic brain injury. It's black because sufferers of brain injuries often retreat to quiet, dark spaces. It is our hope that these baseball caps can shed light on the dark reality behind these injuries.

Why is the brand called checkmate?

Just as a sports player would check on their teammate, we want to encourage everyone to speak up and check in on each other after they have experienced an injury or accident. By bringing awareness, we can hopefully end the concussion crisis and prevent people from suffering future health problems related to brain injuries.  Early recognition and treatment can help eliminate the risk of early-onset dementia, PTSD, and other chronic conditions.

Do all of the proceeds go to the Concussion Legacy Foundation Canada?

Yes, 100% of the proceeds  go directly to the Concussion Legacy Foundation Canada.

What material is the hat?

The hats are a polyester cotton blend with a metal buckle for size adjustment on the back.

When can I order a hat?

The hats are limited edition and will only be available while supplies last.
